In 1946, Anthony and Peter Bokan decided that the people of Northern California needed a place to buy engine hard parts and remanufactured engines. They got together and opened up a business, selling their wares from their 400 square foot basement. Within a year, they outgrew the basement, moved, soon moved again, and now operate from a 65,000 square foot warehouse in South Sacramento, selling vehicle engines from 1949 to the present.

In 1991, Bokan Brothers came to Datavision needing an overhaul of their 14 year old industry specific Triad system. They decided to switch to IBM (AIX) for hardware and Down To Earth Business Software for Inventory, Order Entry, Accounts Receivable, and Sales Analysis. By early 1999, they had outgrown their hardware and needed to be ready for the turn of the century. They decided to change to an SCO – UNIX system using their existing IBM terminals. Next, fine tuning the engine tracking system began – changes needed to keep up with their growing business. Today, they have migrated to a Windows server and a more current Down To Earth version, while still staying with the basic 'tried and true' system that has worked for them for over 15 years.

Although new generations have joined the business, it is still family owned and operated. Anthony's son Bill and grandson Michael have joined the team. The base Down To Earth software was modified by Datavision to substitute kit items during Order Entry, produce numerous reports by product line, and of course, process data for the new millenium. In addition, Datavision has designed a modified Bill of Materials type tracking system that allows them to build an engine, give it an ID number, and follow what parts are swapped out at the time of sale.
