Add,
Change, &
Delete
|
|
The
Add,
Change,
and Delete
functions are consistent
within any operating system
but keyboard shortcuts may be
customized to your
preferences. Verify your
keyboard equivalents for your
exact shortcut by pulling
down the
Records menu
column, underneath the
window title
bar.
|
|

|
Add a
record
Choosing a menu
selection displays an
input window, but
disabled.
|
|
If any data
exists in
the file,
the first
record is
displayed
automatically.
|
|
This allows
the
operator to
immediately
review the
records
using any
of the
shortcuts
that are
enabled.
|
|
Select
the
“
Add
record”
shortcut
to activate
the entry
window and
add a new
record.
|
|
|

|
Change (Edit) a
record
As with Add,
a menu
selection displays an
input window, but
disabled.
Find the record
you want to change then use the
"Edit"
shortcut.
|
|
When the first
record is
displayed,
the
“
Locate
record
,
”
“
Next
record
,
” “
Last
record
,
”
“
Prior
record
,
”
or
“
First
record
”
shortcuts are
enabled.
|
|
Use any
combination
that works best
to
display a
particular
record in the
entry
window.
|
|
The
most frequently
used shortcut
is "
Locate
record."
It offers the
most options
for searching
and is most
efficient.
|
|
Then choose the
"Edit record"
shortcut to
enable and edit
the record
displayed
.

Delete
a
record
There are two basic
options for deleting a
record.
Deleting a
master record is different
than deleting a single line
on a purchase
order.
Deleting a
single line of a
transaction record allows you
to un-delete it,
too.
|
|
To delete
an
entire
transaction,
order, or
master record,
display the
record to be
deleted using
any available
shortcut, use
the
“
Edit
”
shortcut
to enable the
record, then
use
the
“
Delete
record
”
shortcut
to remove it
completely.
|
|
The optional
delete
confirmation
prompt
is
defined as part
of the Master
Security.
|
|
D
eleting
a
single
line
of a
multiple line
type entry
(journal,
transaction,
sales order,
etc.), is quite
different.
|
|
Mark/block
(don’t select)
the line from
the
List
selection
(usually
the second
displayed)
window and use
the
“
Delete
entry
”
shortcut
from the
General Menu
column.
|
|
The line
sequence
record remains
in the file and
displayed in
the window but
is marked as
deleted by
the
“
x
”
to
the
right of
the sequence
number.
|
|
Repeat this
procedure to
‘undelete’ any
sequence
number.
