I have
a third party software and service
company that needs my DTE data in an
ascii or comma delimited format. Does
DTE have this ability? Can I read DTE
Data into
Excel®?

Import Inventory
Items: The ability to
import items from a new vendor makes
starting a new line of products easy.
Because data provided is varied, a
template item ID is used to establish
codes the vendor may not
provide.
The process imports
to the item master file
(initem.ism
), the
location file
(inlocn.ism
), and
the bin file
(inabin.ism
)
records from a delimited or fixed
length file. Select "Import ascii
file to item" from the Inventory
Miscellaneous menu column and follow
the window prompts to your
specifications.

Import
Name/Address

Previously exported
records that are verified within a
third party can be imported along
with an error code for correction via
"Import fixed addresses" selection of
the Miscellaneous menu column. The
file imported must be located in
the WRK
directory and
with the filename of
dtenames.txt
.

Utilize
ODBC Connectivity from within third party
software:
ODBC (Open DataBase Connectivity)
drivers may be licensed as part
of your SynergyDE programming
language. ODBC uses the standard
Repository (RPS) that includes the
primary DTE data files. A Catalog is
easily generated then used as a tool to
extract Down To Earth data. The data
is imported directly into an Excel®
spreadsheet or to generate a report with
Crystal Report Writer®.

Export Any
DTE data, from almost any
data file:
All DTE data files
are defined within the standard
Repository required for the System
Manager, "Export data file" menu
selection within the Files Menu
column. That means that you can
extract data from any file or files
with a defined relationship, export
to the file type of your choices, at
any time.
In addition to
choosing the fields to export, you
can also apply up to five "filters"
to only export the particular records
you need. For complete detailed
instructions, please refer to the
System Manager User's Reference
Manual, "Export data files from DTE
data file" section.
NOTE -- The
Repository (or copy of) must be in
the DTE directory defined as UTF. The
.ism / .is1 files
necessary for this feature are
included with your distribution as
rpsctrl, rpsmain,
and
rpstext.
